Buller’s And Your Praise, part 2 worthy successor

Clay Bergen

And Your Praise Goes On  Volume Two
Jon Buller. Winnipeg, Man.: Hear the Music Productions, 2001.

It occurs to me that as I listen to various albums and try to coalesce their essence into something readable that this sometimes is a difficult task. Many times it is obvious that production flaws or an artist’s lack of talent overshadow the work itself. Sometimes, the album is decent without being stellar. However, in the case of And Your Praise Goes On  Volume Two there is no mistaking its standout qualities.

Simple to write the review then, you say? No. That’s what makes reviewing it difficult. On first listening to And Your Praise 2, I was lulled into liking it. How terrible! My sense of aloofness from the music was totally gone. However, further listening only enhanced this sense of satisfaction. What a treat!

Though I have heard many, if not all, of these songs before, Buller and his group bring a passion, enthusiasm and warmth to the tracks contained here. Once again, as with the first CD, this album served the purpose it was intended for. It leads the listener in a worshipful experience.

So, while trying hard to lay my “journalistic ambivalence” aside, I can heartily say that this album deserves a spot in your worship music collection, and a permanent place in your car’s CD holder. By the way, the riffs from “So Good To Me” are the coolest since Blues Travelers’ “Run-Around”. Get it and see for yourself why And Your Praise 2 is a truly standout album and a worthy successor to the first.
