Ron Toews has resigned as senior pastor of Dalhousie MB Community Church in Calgary, effective Jan. 31, having served for seven-and-a-half years. Previously, he pastored in Kitchener (Ont.) MB Church for seven years, two-and-a-half years as associate pastor and four-and-half years as senior pastor. He has a B.R.E. from MB Bible College in Winnipeg, an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. and a D.Min. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. He and his wife Dianne have four children: Erik, 21 (married to Jamie), Douglas, 19, Nathan, 18, and Kristi, 15. Effective June 1, he has been appointed to teach leadership and pastoral ministries at MB Biblical SeminaryACTS in Langley, B.C.

Craig and Kim Frere completed their ministry as pastor couple at Mountview MB Church in Stoney Creek, Ont. on Nov. 4, after serving for three-and-a-half years. The church has closed down and will likely restart next year under the direction of a church planter (see MB Herald, News, Dec 7, 2001). Previously, Craig was associate pastor at Houghton Brethren in Christ Church near Langton, Ont. for two-and-a-half years. He has a B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ont. and has worked towards a masters degree at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. Kim is a voice teacher. She has a B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University and a B.Ed. from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont. The Freres have two children, Geordi, 4, and Mairi, 2, and are expecting their third child at the end of January. They are open to further ministry.
Wilf and Lorena Richert began serving as interim pastor couple of Broadway MB Church in Chilliwack, B.C. in the middle of November. Previously, Wilf was pastor of Arnold Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C. for three years, was interim pastor of East Aldergrove MB Church in Abbotsford for eight months, was associate pastor at Yarrow (B.C.) MB Church for seven years, was associate pastor at North Peace MB Church in Fort St. John, B.C. for six years and was pastor of Tofield (Alta.) Gospel Chapel for two-and-a-half years. He has a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and a B.R.S. from MB Bible College in Winnipeg and has studied at Coaldale (Alta.) Bible School, MB Bible Institute (Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford), MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. and Associated Canadian Theological Schools in Langley, B.C. The Richerts have a son Kelly, married to Karis.
Harinda Sahota is serving as pastor of IndoCanadian Christian Fellowship, Abbotsford, B.C. Previously, he trained and worked as an automotive technician. He came to the Lord nine years ago through the ministry of David Manuel, who is currently serving as pastor of communications and evangelism at the Christian Fellowship. Sahota is studying towards an M.Div. degree at Associated Canadian Theological Schools. He recently married Daranjit. The congregation meets at South Abbotsford MB Church and works within the Punjabi community in the Abbotsford area.
Phil Toews is serving a part-time pastoral internship at Central Heights MB Church in Abbotsford, B.C. With the local school board creating a middle school category, the church is adapting its youth program to include those in grade 6. Toews will be working with grade 67 students and will be under the direction of Cam Broad, junior high youth pastor. Toews is a third-year student at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford. He is engaged to Rebecca Boakes; they plan to marry next summer.
David Fields began serving a youth pastoral internship at Westwood MB Church in Prince George, B.C. on Sept. 11 through the B.C. MB Conference Pastoral Apprenticeship program. He is being mentored by youth pastor Craig Reimer. Previously, Fields was program director at Ness Lake Bible Camp, Prince George for a summer, worked at Challenge Camp, a youth program operated through the Banff township, and served as the worship leader of an interdenominational worship ministry in Prince George for three years. He has completed his third year of studies for a bachelor of science degree in outdoor recreation at the University of Northern British Columbia.
Andy Steiger began serving a youth pastoral internship at Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship in Coquitlam, B.C. on Oct. 1 through the B.C. MB Conference Pastoral Apprenticeship program. Previously, he did a youth pastoral internship at his home church, Milwaukie (Ore.) First Baptist Church and did short-term mission work in the Andes Mountains of Argentina and Bolivia in 1997 and 1999 with Delta Mission International. He has studied at Northwest Baptist Theological College in Langley, B.C. and has a B.A. from Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. He is married to Nancy, who has a B.A. from Northwest Baptist Theological College.
Brian Fedyshen began serving a youth pastoral internship at Maple Ridge (B.C.) Community Church Sept. 1 through the B.C. MB Conference Pastoral Apprenticeship program. He is from White Rock, B.C. Previously, he was a youth sponsor at the church. A new convert through the church, he sensed a calling from God to the ministry while taking a group of youth to Avalanche, a Christian youth event in Kelowna, B.C. He has a B.A. in political science from U.B.C. His wife Carly, who grew up in the Maple Ridge church, has a B.A. in art history from the University of B.C. In April 2002, they will begin studying at Youth With A Missions Discipleship Training School.
Matt Unruh began serving as part-time worship coordinator through a pastoral internship at Greendale MB Church in Chilliwack, B.C. on Sept. 1. This is a pastoral internship under the B.C. MB Conference Pastoral Apprenticeship program. He is being mentored by senior pastor Reg Toews. Previously, he served a pastoral internship at Cornerstone Community Church in Virgil, Ont. for 10 months, served a pastoral internship in the Spiritual Life department at Eden High School in St. Catharines, Ont. for nine months and was interim pastor at Cloverdale Baptist Church in Surrey, B.C. for a year. He is studying worship at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. He is married to Cristina, who also is a student at Columbia.
