Christian author Jan Karon’s latest book beat out Stephen King’s Dreamcatcher in April, becoming the number one bestseller. A Common Life: The Wedding Story is Karon’s sixth book in the Mitford Series that centres around two characters, an Episcopal priest and his wife in a North Carolina town.

Mennonite Brethren Herald won two awards from the Evangelical Press Association for work published in 2000. Harold Jantz’s article, “A Legacy of Suffering” (June 9), won first prize in the personality article category. Lorie Mayer’s cover design of the Nov. 17 issue (Passionate Spirituality: The practice of prayer) earned fifth place in the 1-, 2-, or 3-colour cover category.
