Previous | Next Hepburn, Sask. Bethany students take part in CPE trip to India

On February 7, 2001, 21 third-year students left Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask. for a three-and-a-half-week trip to India. They were part of a Church Partnership Evangelism team led by Dan Nickel and Gordon Nickel.

Bethanys team leaders were Sherry Heidebrecht and Wayne Hildebrand, both from Hepburn. Daphne Plett, associate dean of students, also accompanied the team.

Team member Aurelie Hoffman states: We had to adjust to new smells, food, clothing, driving experiences and the Indian understanding of time. Many of us found the language barrier to be a point of frustration. Most of us experienced spiritual battles in India unlike anything we had encountered in Canada. We received hospitality in each village we visited. People gave the best of the little they had in order to show their gratitude to us. Tears of joy were shed as people found God. The stories of how God is working in India are endless. We have a love for India and its people and a burden to pray for the people we met. Bethany Bible Institute release
