 | Simple Songs Steve Bell. Signpost Music. 2000.
|

Beginning with an acoustic guitar and mandolin duet followed by lyrics based on Psalm 84, the first song on Steve Bells recent release Simple Songs introduces the reflective nature of this CD. Largely acoustic guitar and vocals worship music, this CD is part of the living room series designed to showcase Christian singer/songwriters as they might sound if they were performing in your home. Bells gentle spirit and thoughtful words and music are revealed through this intimate portrait of the artist in worship. The music is soft, contemporary worship and provides a contemplative setting for reflection.

Bell is a respected Canadian artist known for his warmth and passionate desire to see people connect with God on a personal and worshipful level. The lyrics are biblically based and include reflections on the Psalms, the peace prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, and an instrumental medley of Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, Be Thou My Vision and Great is thy Faithfulness. Other instrumental pieces in the CD include Foxglove by Bruce Cockburn and an original piece by Bell.

Quiet and meditative, this CD is ideal for the music listener who appreciates a gentle, worshipful mood when listening to music. It is easily appreciated by a younger and older audience, and helpful during quiet time when the listener is seeking a peaceful spirit.
