Tenor Ben Heppner will be performing a benefit recital for Mennonite Economic Development Associates Feb. 26, 7:30 p.m., Centre in the Square, Kitchener, Ont. Heppner will be accompanied by Consort Caritatis, a choir dedicated to raising funds for humanitarian causes such as MEDA, MCC and Habitat for Humanity. The director is Howard Dyck. Sophia, a magazine for and by women, is offering its third New Writers Contest, open to those who have not previously written for the magazine. Categories include Life writing; A reflection from Scripture; Experience as a Christian woman at the beginning of the 21st century; A theme suitable for a Sophia column; and Fiction. 800 word maximum.
