George Matthies, chair of the building committee at Clearbrook MB Church in Abbotsford, B.C., stands in the new foyer of the church. At the end of 1998, the municipality made known its intention to widen the road in front of the church, bringing the road closer to the church building. In early 2000, the church decided to renovate the foyer so that the front entrance was not facing the road. The church also moved the lift and enlarged the foyer and basement area. On Nov. 5, the church held a dedication service for the building project. Matthies presented a brief history of the project. Pastor Jay Neufeld gave the message, and pastor Peter J. Klassen and moderator John E. Klassen gave the dedicatory prayers. The new lift has access to all levels of the church, making it advantageous for those who find climbing stairs difficult.
