Wayne Banman began serving as associate pastor of adult ministries at Westside Community Church in Morden, Man. on Aug. 1. Previously, he was program director at a Native transitional school near Red Lake, Ont. for four years and worked at a community counselling clinic with the Ontario Ministry of Health for seven years. He also was a church planter with the Associated Gospel Church in Red Deer, Alta. for one year and was associate pastor at Evangelical Christian Fellowship Chapel in Winnipeg for one year. He has B.A., M.A. and M.Div. degrees from Providence Bible College and Theological Seminary in Otterburne, Man. He and his wife Phyllis have five children, Jonathan, 25, Jeffrey, 22, Joelle, 19, and Joshua and Janna, 12.



James and Janet Woyke began serving as youth pastor couple at Arnold Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C. in September. During the summer, James was a pastoral intern at the church. He also has worked in construction in Abbotsford. He has studied at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Sask. and Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford. The Woykes have two children, Claire and Spencer.



Ralph and Linda Klassen have resigned as senior pastor couple of Linden (Alta.) MB Church, effective Oct. 31, after serving for 15 years. Previously, Ralph pastored Lakeview MB Church in Lethbridge, Alta. for five years, was part-time associate pastor at Dinuba (Calif.) United Methodist Church for two years and pastored at 108 Mile Ranch in B.C. for three years. He has a B.Th. from MB Bible (now Concord) College, a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and an M.A. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. The Klassens have three grown children. They are open to further ministry.



Brian and Becky Wiebe completed their ministry as associate pastor couple at The River, an MB church plant with Mission Calgary and the Alberta MB Conference, at the end of September, after serving there since June 1, 1999. Previously, Brian was a church planting intern at Mountain View Community Church in Clovis, Calif. and was a music minister in Cedar Valley Mennonite Church in Mission, B.C. He has a B.A. from Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. and an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. The Wiebes have two children, Alex, 4, and Stuart, 22 months. They are open to further ministry.



Don Taylor has been given an extension on his term as college and career pastor at Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church until Jan. 31, 2001, after completing a one-year term as interim college and career pastor July 31. Previously, he taught English, math, history/geography and music with the Avon-Maitland District School Board. He has a B.A. in music from the University of Waterloo, a B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario, London, and a three-year applied music diploma from Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ont. He is married to Jean.

Michael Siebert began serving as part-time director of worship and music at Portage Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg on Aug. 24. He served with Youth Mission International in Lower Sackville, N.S. in 1995 and was a summer pastoral intern at Flin Flon (Man.) MB Church in 1996. He also served with the Vision Team from Concord College. He has a Bachelor of Church Music degree from Concord College, a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and a Bachelor of Christian Ministries degree from Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask. He is originally from Main Centre, Sask.



Bob Ferguson has resigned as bi-vocational pastor of Sayward (B.C.) Christian Fellowship, effective at the end of August, after serving three-and-a-half years. He also drives truck for Chevron Canada. He is married to Joyce. The associate pastor at Sayward is Mark Johnson (see MBH, May 26, 2000).



Roland Marsch has accepted a call to be half-time associate pastor of German ministries at North Kildonan MB Church in Winnipeg, effective Jan. 9, 2001. Previously, he was a church planter, with his late wife Lorina, in Dresden, Germany for two-and-a-half years; pastored Portage Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg for seven years; was Canadian MB Conference minister for four years; pastored North Kildonan MB Church for seven-and-a-half years; pastored the MB church in Neuweid, Germany for 12 years; and pastored Grassy Lake (Alta.) Community Church for two years. He is a graduate of Coaldale (Alta.) Bible School and MB Bible College in Winnipeg. Currently, he is visiting MB churches in Germany. He and his fiancée Irene Loewen of Winnipeg plan to marry this December.



Bernie and Sharlene Schotte began serving as associate pastor couple of adult ministries at Westwood MB Church in Prince George, B.C. on Sept. 15. Previously, he was associate pastor at Beulah Alliance Church in Edmonton for three years and was a pastoral intern at Faith Baptist Church in Regina for one year. He has a B.Th. from Canadian Bible College in Regina.



Philip Wiebe has resigned as editor of Rejoice!, the devotional magazine produced by the Board of Resource Ministries of the General MB Conference and by Faith & Life Press, the publishing arm of the General Conference Mennonite Church, effective Nov. 30, after serving six years. Wiebe will become editor in the Oregon State Archive division. During his tenure, Rejoice! underwent a design change, including a new format, a brighter cover and the inclusion of passages from the lectionary. New writers were also added, and readership expanded.



Dave Worth of Kitchener, Ont. has been named director of constituency ministries for Mennonite Central Committee. Most recently, he served as interim national coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Jamaica for one year. He also was MCC Ontario executive director for 10 years and director of Victim Offender Ministries with MCC Canada for six years.



Thirty-seven young people have begun a one-year term in Europe as part of the Intermenno Trainee program, after attending an Aug. 17 orientation in Toronto. Program participants spend a year in the Netherlands, Switzerland or Germany, living with Christians there and learning the culture firsthand. Most participants spend six months each in two locations. Intermenno is administered by Intermenno Trainee Committees in Europe (one Dutch committee and one German/Swiss committee). Mennonite Central Committee assists in preparing the participants for the experience. Eric Daniel Bain of Lions Bay, B.C. is working as a clerk in a hardware store owned by the Heidebrecht family in Espelkamp, Germany. He will likely move to another placement in the same country for the second half of the year. He previously was a shelver at the West Vancouver (B.C.) Memorial Library. He is a member of West Vancouver Bible Church. Leanne June Dickau of Edmonton is working as a kitchen helper and groundskeeper at the Bildungsstätte Kirchröder Turm conference centre, a Protestant institution, in Hannover, Germany. She will likely move to another placement in the same country for the second half of the year. Previously, she was a cashier at Tim Hortons. She graduated from North American Baptist College in Edmonton. She is a member of River West Christian Church in Edmonton. Tamara Marie Klassen of Oakville, Man. is working as a nanny and housekeeper with the Loewen-Horsch family in Schwandorf, Germany. She will likely move to another placement in the same country for the second half of the year. She previously was a waitress at Koko’s Family Restaurant. She also worked at the MCC Thrift Store in Portage la Prairie, Man. She attended Newton (Man.) Community Fellowship. Tania Limpright of Abbotsford, B.C. is working as a nanny with the Meer-Steinmann family in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She will likely move to another placement in the same country for the second half of the year. Previously, she was a caregiver at Happy Hearts Daycare in Chilliwack, B.C. She attended Columbia Bible College and Central Heights MB Church in Abbotsford.



Thirty-four people participated in a SALT orientation held at Mennonite Central Committee headquarters in Akron, Pa. Aug. 18-25. SALT (Serving And Learning Together) is a one-year MCC program for young adults interested in living, learning and working overseas. Alfridie Braun of Landmark, Man. is working at a shelter for street children in Asunción, Paraguay. Most recently, she worked for Granny’s Poultry in Blumenort, Man. She also served with Campus Crusade for Christ. She is a member of Elmwood MB Church in Winnipeg. Tristan Isaak of Winnipeg is working with the Tribal hostel project for World Concern in Thailand. He previously was a counsellor at Camp Arnes in Arnes, Man. He is a member of Jubilee Mennonite Church in Winnipeg. Aileen Mobach of Abbotsford, B.C. is working as a secondary school teacher in Desarmes, Haiti. She has a bachelor’s degree in French from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She previously was a sales associate for Over the Moon Chocolate Company in Vancouver. She is a member of South Abbotsford MB Church.
