Columbia Bible College to build gym


Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C., will celebrate its April 2001 graduation ceremonies in a new 22,000-square-foot gymnasium complex due to a donation from a private foundation and a fundraising campaign expected to eliminate the College’s capital debt by April 1, 2001.

Three years ago, the College had a capital debt of over $3 million. Last fall, however, a couple offered to cover the entire cost of a new gym if the College would eliminate its capital debt. A major fundraising drive was initiated.

The gym will have two full-size courts suitable for basketball, volleyball and badminton, and bleachers will hold 450 spectators. It will also have a state-of-the-art fitness centre, a large classroom, several team/seminar rooms and athletic staff offices. The foyer will be 2,000 square feet. The auditorium will be used for grad ceremonies, conventions and other special events.


The gymnasium complex is the first phase of a long-range campus development plan.

Columbia Bible College is operated by B.C. MB Conference and the Conference of Mennonites in B.C.
