Hepburn, Sask.
Faculty/staff transitions at Bethany

February brought several staff transitions for Bethany Bible Institute, Hepburn, Sask.

Doug Berg, Ben Wohlgemut and Renee Evashkevich have resigned, effective June 30, 2000 in order to pursue ministry or studies elsewhere. Receptionist Janna Berg and admissions counsellor Jamie Block have also resigned. Janna has moved on to other employment, and Jamie will be pursuing studies at the University of Saskatchewan.

Berg
Doug Berg has served the college for 22 years as instructor, academic dean, dean of faculty and president. He and his wife Lil came to Bethany after studies at MB Biblical Seminary. Doug was instrumental in developing the three-year degree program and two-year diploma. He has led the school in developing strategic planning and written policy. He has provided leadership and impetus to the accreditation process. In the past year, the Brick campaign, which he initiated, brought the long-term indebtedness of the college down from $225,000 to less than $60,000. He is well known for his effective teaching in Bible and discipleship as well as maintaining a strong connection with his students and alumni. His future plans include further studies.

He and his wife Marg are moving to St. Catharines, Ont., where he will take administrative leadership at Tabor Manor, a senior citizen’s complex.
