Hepburn, Sask.
Bethany receives accreditation

Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask., has been accredited by the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC) at its 53rd annual meeting Feb. 17-19 in Orlando, Fla.

Bethany is one of 87 Bible colleges throughout North America accredited by AABC.

The road to accreditation has been long. The college began to move in this direction in the late 70s but felt the timing was not right. In 1995, Doug Berg (former president), Ben Wohlgemut (academic dean) and Ray Lepp (past board chair) restarted the process.

“It’s gratifying to be recognized as a college whose program has achieved a standard of excellence,” notes president Rick Schellenberg. “Our mission is to nurture disciples of Jesus Christ in their love for God, their understanding of Scripture and their ministry in the church and the world.”

Bethany has 145 students and is operated by the Mennonite Brethren Churches of Alberta and Saskatchewan and Evangelical Mennonite Mission churches. Its programs include a two-year diploma in biblical studies, a three-year bachelor of Christian ministry and a four-year bachelor of arts.
