Tribulation is the name of the third movie in the series about the end times. Peter and Paul Lalonde are in the final stages of production with the movie which continues the story started by Apocalypse and Revelation. The cast for Tribulation includes Gary Busey, Margot Kidder, Howie Mandel and Leigh Lewis. The story follows three siblings through a time that includes the Rapture. It is expected to open in theatres Jan. 1, 2000.
Gods Week Has Seven Days by Wally Kroeker of Mennonite Economic Development Associates has received an award of Merit from Excellence in Media. The book is a collection of 52 reflections celebrating the work week of God. It is published by Herald Press. The Angel Awards, founded in 1977 by Excellence in Media, honours creative people in motion pictures, television, radio, books, albums and other forms of media whose works present either a high moral, spiritual, or moral impact on society. CrossCanadaSearch.com, an Internet search engine aimed at Canadian Christians, has tripled its number of listings in its two months of operation, making it the largest directory of Canadian Christian Internet sites. It is patterned after the leading Internet directory Yahoo!. Most of the listing are churches, mission agencies or music related sites. Charles Morrison, project initiator, says the directory is adding about 75 sites a week, and should reach 1,000 before December. Morrison also maintains Web sites including CMB-Canada, Music, Biblical Faith, and Canadian Christian Banner Network. He is a member of Community Fellowship Church in Newton, Man. CrossCanadaSearch
Lessons from Emily is a new Mennonite Mutual Aid resource for the church to aid in discussions about disabilities. Written by Peter and Mary Graber, the resource chronicles their journey with their daughter Emily who was born with microcephaly, an underdeveloped brain. A new teen study reveals that girls who read popular teen magazines may experience increased angst about their body image. Using a sample of girls ages 13-17, researchers provided half with a subscription to Seventeen for a 15-month period. The other half wasnt assigned anything. At the end of the study, researchers concluded 30-50% of those reading the magazine displayed heightened feelings of depression, urges to diet and symptoms of bulimia. Eric Stice, assistant professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, presented the study to the American Psychological Association. Plugged In
