It seems that Net surfers are more interested in God than in pornography. On AltaVista, a search engine, a web search of the word “God” produced 6,396,150 hits, while a search of the word “porn” produced only 4,794,806 hits. Right now, there are approximately 1,292,520 Web sites on “angels” and 295,390 Web sites on “Satan.”  – CNN Interactive



People in the Balkans can tune into the gospel starting Aug. 2. Using a one-million-watt AM transmitter in Grigoriopol, Commonwealth of Independent States, Trans World Radio will broadcast two hours of gospel programming in Romanian, Bulgarian and the Gypsy languages of Balkan Romani and Kalderash. Grigoriopol is east of Romania and southwest of Ukraine. TWR is also exploring the possibility of setting up a 100,000-watt short-wave transmitter in Burkina Faso. It would be jointly operated by TWR and HCJB World Radio. Each week, TWR broadcasts more than 1,200 hours of programs in 140 languages to 160 countries.  – Evangelical Press News Service



www.confmenno.ca is the new web site of the Conference of Mennonites in Canada. Launched May 25, the site seeks to strengthen the relationship between pastors and churches and provides information such as a list of churches seeking pastors and pastors seeking churches.  – Canadian Mennonite



National Bioethics Advisory Commission, a US national panel on medical ethics, gave preliminary approval to public funding of research on “stem cells” from embryos left over from fertility clinic procedures. Scientists believe such cells could aid research in curing Parkinson’s Disease and diabetes.  – EPNS



The third video in the five-part Christian education series called “The Big Picture” has been released. The videos with Phil Callaway, Canadian author of Making Life Rich Without Any Money and Honey, I Dunked the Kids, are designed to promote group discussion in Sunday school and Bible study groups on issues such as morality, witnessing, missions, prayer and slowing down in a speeded-up world. Last year, Callaway’s second video won a Telly Award. The series is available by phoning (403) 443-2086.  – The Total TV Network



PathwaysPathways is a journal telling people’s stories of how they cope with having lost someone through homicide. Published six times a year through the Victims’ Voice program of Mennonite Central Committee Canada, Pathways is edited by Wilma Derksen, whose daughter Candace was murdered 14 years ago.
