C.M. Chan has been hired as senior pastor of Burnaby (B.C.) Pacific Grace Chinese Church, effective last Oct 19. He is a Ph.D. candidate in Biblical Studies at Pensacola Theological Seminary in Florida. Previously, he served in churches in Hong Kong, Toronto and Israel, and from 1991 to 1996 pastored in Taiwan. He and his wife Gloria have two children, Jasper, 7, and Golda, 4.
Nick Suen was hired as an assistant pastor at Bethel Chinese Christian MB Church in Vancouver, effective Aug. 1, 1998. He has a Masters degree in engineering from the University of British Columbia and an M.Div. from Regent College in Vancouver.
Susanna Ho has been serving as an associate pastor at Vancouver Chinese MB Church since July 16, 1998. She has a B.S.C. from the University of British Columbia and an M.Div. from Regent College in Vancouver.
Ernie Reimer has been serving as full-time administrator at North Peace MB Church in Fort St. John, B.C. since last August, following the resignation of two of the churchs three pastors. He and his wife Elfrieda served a term with Mennonite Central Committee in Newfoundland. He taught school and served in school administration in the Arctic and the Peace River area, retiring as superintendent of schools 10 years ago. Between 1992 and 1997, he served for two years as president of Lithuania Christian College and then for two years as leader of the MBMS International team in Lithuania/Russia. The Reimers have five children and are expecting their 12th grandchild.

John H. Unger has resigned as pastor of Richmond Park MB Church in Brandon, Man., effective May 31. The Board of Concord College has appointed him president of Concord College, effective July 1. He has been pastoring the Richmond Park Church for the last 10 years, and previously was associate pastor of Clearbrook MB Church in Abbotsford, B.C. for six years. He graduated from Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask., and has an engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan and an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. He has served as moderator of the Manitoba MB Conference. His wife Merrill, also a graduate of MBBS, served as chaplain at Brandon University, and currently is part of Westman Interfaith Counselling and Education Centre in Brandon. The Ungers have four grown children, John, Lori, Vincent and Heather.
Jose Ortiz has been appointed executive director of Mennonite Central Committee US. Ortiz currently serves as associate professor of church ministries and director of field education at Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg, Va. He has served as director of the Hispanic Ministries Department at Goshen (Ind.) College and associate secretary for Hispanic Ministries for the General Board of the Mennonite Church. Previously, he pastored Iglesia Mennonite in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and worked there as a teacher and social worker. He has a B.A. from Goshen College, M.A.s from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and Indiana University at South Bend, Ind., and a D.Min. from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Ortiz will replace interim MCC US executive director Steve Penner in July.
Panorama Community Church of Surrey, B.C. baptized Allison Buckley, John Kampen, Debbie Johnson, Sherry Liu, Carrie Waterton, Michelle Steele and Carolyn Davidson. The baptisms occurred Feb. 21 in Seaquam Secondary School in Delta, B.C., where the church meets.
Henry Klassen of Thornhill, Man. has been appointed Canadian Foodgrains Bank coordinator for Manitoba/Saskatchewan, effective Mar. 1. Klassen will work closely with CFB volunteers and donors, offer support and guidance to local community growing projects, facilitate grain collection and storage, offer support to the 13 member agencies of CFB and be responsible for the expansion of the CFB program in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Raised on a farm near Altona, Man., Klassen worked as a grain elevator manager with Manitoba Pool Elevators at Kronsgart in the early 1960s, worked as a Canada Customs officer 1963-97 and managed his own grain farm in Cartwright and Thornhill 1974-97.
