Winnipeg, Man.
Mennonite Oratorio Choir performs international repertory

Picture
The 140-voice Mennonite Oratorio Choir, composed of singers from Canadian Mennonite University and from the larger community gave their first concert of the season Nov. 25. They performed pieces from Mendelssohn, Penderecki and Tormis, and ended with “African Sanctus” by David Fanshawe. The concert was held in the gymnasium at CMU and began with Mendelssohn’s “Hear My Prayer”. Soloist was Marni Enns. The choir, led by conductor Rudy Schellenberg, was augmented by a rock ensemble, percussion and piano for the final piece, as well as by taped songs of the Masai in Kenya. Again the soloist was Marni Enns.
