Vern Heidebrecht, senior pastor at Northview Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C., is on sick leave until June 1. He recently was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He and his wife Carol have been pastor couple at Northview for 14 years. They had begun a three-month sabbatical on Jan. 9.



Michael Dyck has resigned as associate pastor of youth at Elmwood MB Church in Winnipeg, effective June 30, after serving for almost six years. Previously, he worked in admissions at Providence College and Seminary in Otterburne, Man. for two years. He has a B.A. from Providence College. He is married to Deb, who works for MB Stewardship Ministries in the Canadian MB Conference offices in Winnipeg. Michael is open to further ministry.

Bill Stubbs began serving as pastor of discipleship at Glencairn MB Church in Kitchener, Ont. on May 23, 2001. Previously, he pastored New Hope Community Church, a church plant of the Plymouth Brethren in Waterloo, Ont. for two years; pastored People’s Church in Wyoming, Ont. for 12 years; was associate pastor at North Park Community Chapel in London, Ont. for five years; and served with the Navigators for five years, including at the University of Guelph, University of Winnipeg and University of Calgary, where he was campus director. He has a B.Sc. from Purdue University and an M.Th. from Dallas Theological Seminary. His wife Sharon is a part-time personal support worker at Nithview Nursing Home, a Mennonite care facility in New Hamburg, Ont. The Stubbses have four sons, Jeffery, 23, David, 21, Brian, 19, and Andrew, 16.



Norman Baird began serving as part-time interim pastor at Christian Fellowship Chapel near Orillia, Ont. on April 14. Previously, he was a pulpit supply pastor to other churches in the area, pastored First Baptist Church in Orillia 1974–78 and for three years in the 1990s, pastored Fairhavens Community Church in Beaverton, Ont. for six years and worked in the Maritimes for three years. He began his vocation as a pastor in Bangor, Northern Ireland. He did undergraduate work at a Bible training institute in Glasgow and at Carleton University, and has an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C. He and his wife Frances have two grown sons, Justin and Calvin.

Shelley Campagnola began serving as pastor of children’s ministries at Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church Aug. 1, 2001. Involved in children’s ministries since 1986, she previously was director for children’s ministries at Christian Community Fellowship in Waterloo for two years and assisted in children’s ministries at Glencairn Baptist Church in London, Ont. She also teaches children’s ministries at Heritage Bible College in Cambridge, Ont. She has a B.R.E. from London Baptist Bible College, a B.Comm. from the University of Guelph and an M.T.S. from Heritage Theological Seminary. Her husband David is a tool and die maker. They have three children, Nicole, 9, Ryan, 8, and Timothy, 5.

Kirk Bartha began serving as pastor of student ministries at Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church last July. Previously, he was pastor of youth and outreach at Stanley Park Baptist Church in Kitchener, Ont. for five years. He is a graduate of Arrow Leadership Training, a two-year mentoring program of Leighton Ford Ministries. Bartha also serves one month a year in leadership development with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He has a B.R.E. from Tyndale Bible College in Toronto and a Master of Christian Studies degree from Regent College in Vancouver. He is married to Darlene. She previously worked for World Vision Canada in child sponsorship and Child Care International and most recently was on the ministry support staff at Waterloo MB Church. She is currently on maternity leave. The Barthas have two children, Luke, 22 months, and Bree, 1 month.



John Neufeld has resigned as associate pastor at McIvor Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg, effective this summer, after serving for five years. Previously, he worked at MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. for three years and has done a variety of part-time ministries. He has a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and an M.Div. from MBBS. He and his wife Rose have two children, Levi, 7, and Jillian, 5.

King Road MB Church in Abbotsford, B.C. held an installation service for associate pastor couple George and Mary Baier on Jan. 6. Previously, he was senior pastor at Culloden MB Church in Vancouver for two-and-a-half years and pastor to the seniors there for six months, was associate pastor at Clearbrook MB Church in Abbotsford for six years, pastored Peachland (B.C.) Baptist Church for five years, pastored Central MB Church in Winnipeg for four years, was youth pastor at Clearbrook MB Church, and served with MBMS International in Germany and the Congo. He has a Diploma of Sacred Music from MB Bible (now Concord) College in Winnipeg, a B.A. from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., and an M.A. from Providence Theological Seminary in Otterburne, Man. The Baiers have one daughter and three granddaughters.

Sardis Community Church in Chilliwack, B.C. in February held a celebration supper for Dorothy Martens, who has resigned as pastor of family ministries due to health reasons (she has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis) after serving for nine years. Previously, she worked in public health nursing in Saskatchewan for 21 years, as a nurse, supervisor and consultant. She has a B.Sc.N. from the University of Saskatchewan and an M.A. in marriage and family counselling from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. At the celebration, participants told stories highlighting her insightful counsel, wonderfully crafted sermons, warm relationships and love of books. She plans to remain a member of the Sardis congregation.
